Jays romp past Camdenton in district baseball

COLUMBIA, Mo. - The Jefferson City Jays advanced to the second round of the Class 5 District 9 championship Saturday with an 11-1 defeat of Camdenton in five innings.

Bret Jaegers paced the Jays offensively, going 4-for-4 with three RBI and two runs. Ripken Dodson was 2-for-3 with two RBI and a run scored, Bryce Beckley went 2-for-2 with two runs and an RBI, Gerrit Shirts was 2-for-3 and drove in one, and Jake Pridgin went 2-for-4 with two runs scored.

Adam Grunden was the winning pitcher, throwing all five innings and allowing six hits and one run as he struck out four.

Jefferson City (18-1) faces Sedalia Smith-Cotton at 5 p.m. Monday at Hickman in the district semifinals.
