JC man gets 10 years on drug charges

A Jefferson City man has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for pleading guilty to charges he faced in connection with a drug raid last August.

Nicholas Birdsong, 28, who was on parole for the distribution of controlled substances, forgery and resisting arrest, pleaded guilty to two counts of possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute and one count of driving while revoked.

His sentence will run concurrent to all other sentences against him.

The Jefferson City Police Department's SWAT Team served a search warrant in the 1000 block of Buena Vista Street as the result of a joint MUSTANG Drug Task Force and JCPD Community Action Team investigation involving the distribution of controlled substances and illegal possession of firearms.

Methamphetamine and marijuana were seized during the search.
