Area residents injured in wrecks

Two local residents were taken to St. Mary's Hospital for treatment after a three-vehicle wreck Friday afternoon in Jefferson City.

Jefferson City police said the wreck occurred at 3:47 p.m. when a truck driven by Jacob Archer, 23, Jefferson City, was eastbound in the left turn land at Shamrock Road. A car driven by Lester Rivera Velasques, 23, Jefferson City, was stopped directly behind the truck when a car driven by Jason Andrews, 28, Jefferson City, approached the vehicles and didn't stop. It struck the rear of the car in front of it, pushing that car into the truck.

Andrews and Karin Bouldin, a passenger in the truck, were taken to St. Mary's Hospital.

All involved were wearing seat belts.

• Barnett resident Samantha D. Bungart, 30, was flown by helicopter to University Hospital in Columbia after she was seriously injured in a one-vehicle accident Friday night in Morgan County.

The Missouri Highway Patrol said she was northbound on Route W, approximately 1,000 feet before Hampton Drive at about 10:30 p.m. when her vehicle went off the right side of the road. She overcorrected, and the vehicle crossed the center of the road, went off the left side of the road and struck a tree.

She was wearing a seat belt.

• A Jefferson City woman and an Eldon woman were among four people taken to a hospital after a two-vehicle accident in Miller County Friday night.

The patrol said a vehicle driven westbound by Marie L. Castulik, 49, St. Peters, was westbound on Route FF, about 42 feet north of U.S. 54 at 9:01 p.m. when it attempted to turn onto FF at a high rate of speed. It crossed the center line and struck a vehicle driven southbound by Lisa C. Munoz, 52, Eldon.

Munoz and passenger Rebecca S. Seabaugh, 44, suffered minor injuries. They were taken to Capital Region Medical Center.

Castulik and passenger Marcie A. Tumbarello, 49, St. Peters, were moderately inured. They were taken to Lake Regional Hospital.

All were wearing seat belts.
