Mushrooms, pot land JC man on probation

A Jefferson City man was placed on five years supervised probation for pleading guilty to charges in connection with a drug search in Feburary 2014.

Tynan Robert Hartung-West, 32, was charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute.

The search occurred at a residence in the 300 block of East Ashley Street where officers seized a psilocybin mushroom-growing operation, 17 1-gallon plastic bags of psilocybin mushrooms in excess of 4 pounds, more than 1 pound of marijuana, drug paraphernalia and three firearms.

Court records show the operation was in the kitchen area with seven large storage tubs, containing soil and young mushrooms, grow lights, scales and a food dehydrator to speed up the drying.

Officers also seized $1,820 in U.S. currency during the search.

The psilocybin mushrooms and marijuana had a street value of $9,000.
