Your Opinion: Stop attacks on working families

Dear Editor:

The recent vote of the Republican majority, including my State Rep. Tom Hurst and my State Sen. Mike Kehoe supporting so called "Right-To-Work" is a direct assault on the wages, benefits and working conditions of working men and women in our district, our state, our nation and the world.

We already have the right to work in a "Union Free" environment. If we want to work for the minimum wage and without health care or any other benefits, there are countless opportunities provided by greedy employers who want to weaken and destroy unions for their personal gain.

They could care less if workers and their families have to live in poverty, or choose between food on the table or paying the rent, as long as they can profit off of the fruits of their labor.

In order to pad their pockets, they use people until there is nothing left to use and toss them out into the street, and then rail about them freeloading on the welfare system or draining state resources by seeking disability. Shame on them!

Missouri needs good paying jobs with benefits like health care, disability, and pensions - not more low paying jobs that force working families below the poverty line and increase welfare. It is time to put a stop to these attacks on the working people - it's time to "Vote the Bums Out!"
