First "Evening at the Amphitheatre' set for Friday

The first of three "Evening at the Amphitheatre" events will be from 6-9 p.m. Friday at Ellis-Porter Riverside Park in Jefferson City.

The event and activities are free to the public, but the art, food and beverages will be available for purchase at this family and pet friendly event.

The "Feel Good Friday" activities include a trunk show from art vendors as well as live music from local musicians, including the Kay Brothers, Rose Ridge (an acoustic duo of Jenny Babcock, owner and founder of The Mission, and her husband, Tracy Blase), Gregory Nelson, who plays on blues, and rising star Kelsey Brook.

There will also be a guest appearance by Chris Neff, a master with yo-yos, spinning tops, as well as juggling. At dusk, the animated Disney classic "101 Dalmatians" will be shown.

The other Evening at the Amphitheatre events will be held on Sept. 18, where the focus will be on live music, and Oct. 16, a special Halloween edition and haunted movie night.

Many area businesses and organizations are involved in bringing this event to Jefferson City, including Revel Catering, Spectators Sports Bar & Grill, the City of Jefferson Parks, Recreation & Forestry, Missouri River Regional Library, Q Entertainment and Conrad Audio.
