Assault on wife lands man on probation

A Jefferson City man pleaded guilty to second-degree domestic assault for assaulting his wife in September 2014 by hitting her, kicking her and pushing her down stairs at their home.

Rodolfo Echevarria, 31, was placed on five years supervised probation and ordered to do 60 days of shock detention with credit for time served.

A Jefferson City Police Department said the incident occurred while the couple's children were in the Westview Drive home.

The incident began as an argument and reached a point where the wife grabbed a knife from the kitchen and demanded Echevarria leave the home.

That's when Echevarria grabbed his wife and attacked her, officials said. The wife was taken to a local hospital for treatment of her injuries.
