Columbia airport closed to air traffic

The Columbia Regional Airport closed to air traffic as of 3 p.m. today after an outbound aircraft on the taxi for takeoff left the taxiway and became stuck, according to a post on the airport's website.

It is unknown at this point when the airport will reopen to air traffic. Delays are expected for flights departing today the morning hours of Tuesday, May 12.

Ticketed passengers for inbound and outbound flights should call American Airlines at 800-433-7300 for flight information, according to the website.
