Your Opinion: Time to abolish daylight savings time

Dear Editor:

A letter in the News Tribune March 16 talked about the problems that were caused with the changing of the time to daylight savings time. The letter listed some of these problems.

Last year a survey was taken across the country and over 60 percent of the people prefer standard time year round, not daylight savings time. This was reported in the News Tribune.

I know many people who do not like daylight savings time. We have enough problems now getting the children to school in the morning. Some of the schools are even thinking of having a later start time. Daylight savings time only makes it worse.

Will it be put to a vote of the people and let them decide if they want standard time or daylight savings time or is this another case where our legislators will say, "We don't care what the people want, we will do what we want?" Who was the famous Indian who said only the government thinks that by cutting one foot off the bottom of the blanket and sewing it on the top will make it longer?

If other states are on daylight savings time or standard time it should not affect us. We are all adults and can set our schedule to fit our needs. Let's put this to a vote of the people!
