Winter, Donaldson no-hit Hickman

COLUMBIA, Mo. - A pair of Helias pitchers combined on a no-hitter Saturday and as the Crusaders posted victories against McCluer North and Hickman in baseball action Saturday at Hickman.

In the opener, Clayton Winter and Cole Donaldson teamed up on an eight-inning no-hitter as Helias defeated McCluer North 2-1.

Winter worked the first seven innings, walking four and striking out five. Donaldson got the win in pitching the eighth, striking out one.

McCluer North took a 1-0 lead with a run in the fifth on a walk, a passed ball and an error.

Helias tied it in the sixth. Alex Barton led off with a single and advanced to second when Alex Faddoul reached on an error. After a sacrifice by Todd Buschjost, Chase Bexten picked up an RBI on a groundout.

In the eighth, Zach Stiles led off with a walk and was sacrificed to second by Barton. After a popout, Bexten singled to score Stiles with the game-winner.

Bexten had three of Helias' five hits in the game.

Helias then defeated Hickman 6-1, scoring at least one run in each of the final four innings.

Stiles, Faddoul and Dylan Gaines all had two hits in a nine-hit Helias attack.

Gaines and Buschjost both scored twice, while Gaines also totaled two RBI.

Kale Gerstner went the distance to get the win, allowing just two hits. He walked three and struck out five.

Helias (15-6) plays Tuesday against Waynesville at the American Legion Post 5 Sports Complex. The varsity game is slated for a 4:30 p.m. start.
