Prep Baseball: Falcon frosh split

COLUMBIA, Mo. - The Blair Oaks C team took one of two games Saturday at the Columbia Freshman Tournament at Rock Bridge.

The Falcons played two games Saturday because Friday's game was rained out.

In the opener, Blair Oaks fell 4-1 to Rock Bridge. Tyler Gish took the loss, throwing five innings and allowing three runs - two earned - on five hits, two walks and four strikeouts. Tim Fick pitched two innings of relief, giving up three hits, one unearned run, one walk and striking out one.

Offensively, the Falcons had five hits, one apiece from Gish, Scott Farley, Steven Drake, Jared Lootens and Colton Hoelscher. Drake had the lone RBI for Blair Oaks, driving in Nick Lock.

Later Saturday, the Falcons defeated Hallsville 7-0. Blair Oaks had lost to Hallsville earlier this season.

Drake was the winning pitcher, throwing a one-hit complete-game shutout and striking out eight. He did not allow a walk.

Hunter Herigon led Blair Oaks with two hits, and he also scored a run. Gish had two RBI, a hit and a run. Lock had two RBI and a hit, and Austin Veltrop had an RBI, a hit and a run, as did Fick. Bryce Kempker had a hit and scored two runs.

The game was shortened to five innings due to rain.

The game was the last of the year for the Blair Oaks C team, which finished 9-14.
