Westminster College announces new president

FULTON, Mo. (AP) - Westminster College has named a Nigerian-born candidate to lead the small liberal arts college in Fulton.

The college announced Friday that Benjamin Akande (ah-KHAN-day) will start as its new president in July, replacing retiring President George Forsythe.

Westminster Board of Trustees chairman Wallace Head says Akande will help lead the college in its goal of training global leaders by increasing international diversity at the school.

The college was ranked by U.S. News and World Report as one of the small liberal arts schools with the highest percentage of international students for the 2013-2014 school year.

Akande currently is dean of the business school at Webster University in St. Louis.
