College Softball: Struemph named all-MVC

Missouri State pitcher Erin Struemph was named to the All-Missouri Valley Conference first team when the league handed out its postseason awards recently.

Struemph (St. Elizabeth High School) leads the Bears with eight complete games and picked up her career-best 14th win of the season Sunday.

The sophomore leads the Bears into this week's MVC Tournament, where they are the second seed and open play this afternoon against seventh-seeded Illinois State. Her 2.99 ERA during the regular season was the third-best mark in the league and she is 14-11 and also posted six saves, a number that is the sixth best total among Division I players.

Also on Sunday, Struemph picked up her 300th career strikeout and is on a pace to finish in the top five in school history in that category.
