Missouri softball tops Bulldogs

BATON ROUGE, La. - The Missouri Tigers advanced past Mississippi State 9-0 in six innings in their opening-round game of the 2015 Southeaster Conference tournament. The Tigers totaled nine hits in the contest.

Tori Finucane (19-8) allowed just one hit in her complete game performance, and Missouri had three home runs to pace the offense, as the Bulldogs kept it close through four innings.

Corrin Genovese homered in the second inning to give the Tigers the 1-0 lead, and Kelsea Roth's shot in the fifth came with the bases-loaded to put Missouri up 6-0.

Kirsten Mack had a three-run home run in the sixth inning to put the run-rule in effect and end the game.

The Tigers (39-13) will play No. 3 Auburn (46-9) in a quarterfinal matchup today at 10 a.m. on SEC Network. Missouri lost a three-game series with Auburn in March, falling 14-6 in five innings in game one and winning the second game 5-4 in eight innings before dropping the rubber match 10-8.
