Reception will show off Sketch Day art

The Capitals Arts Gallery is hosting an awards reception to honor area art students' work for the 68th Annual High School Sketch Day at the gallery, 1203 Missouri Blvd., from 3-6 p.m. Wednesday.

Students will be awarded by the judges at the reception at 4:30 p.m.

Judges this year are Diana Echols, a professional artist and retired art teacher in the area, who will present an award for artistry. The Historic City of Jefferson will judge and award four monetary prizes for the top artworks depicting significant historical architecture or landscapes. Mayor Carrie Tergin will judge and also present a special artist award at the reception.

The students' drawings from Monday's Sketch Day will be turned in to the sketch day committee to be accepted for judging today.

The Sketch Day exhibit will remain open at the gallery through Friday from noon-6 p.m. daily and on Saturday and Sunday from 1-4 p.m.
