College Track: CMU second at HAAC meet

FAYETTE - The Central Methodist men's and women's track and field teams were both second at the Heart of America Athletic Conference Championships during the weekend.

On the men's side, Baker won with 199 points and Central Methodist was second in the eight-team race with 180.5.

Dilan Simmons (Versailles High School) helped Central Methodist to its finish by coming in second in the discus (47.06 meters), a provisional mark for the NAIA Outdoor Championships.

He was also second in the hammer throw (51.36 meters), third in the javelin (49.14 meters) and fifth in the shot put (14.05 meters).

On the women's side, Baker won the eight-team competition with a whopping 300 points and Central Methodist was a distant second with 177.5.

Central Methodist's Emily Nealley (Versailles High School) was third in the 10,000-meter run (40:23.11) and third in the 5,000-meter run (19:07.82).
