Prep Baseball: Linn tops Fatima

WESTPHALIA - The Linn Wildcats carved out a 7-3 win against the Fatima Comets on Friday in a battle of state-ranked teams.

Linn, ranked No. 3 in Class 2, got a big offensive effort from Ryan Mantle in the win. The Missouri State signee went 3-for-3 with three RBI, including a two-run home run.

Cameron Laughlin added two hits and three runs scored for the Wildcats, while Chase Laughlin had two hits and one RBI.

Also for Linn, Jacob Voss and Eathan Hickey had one hit and one RBI apiece.

Voss was the winning pitcher, as he went 52/3 innings and gave up three unearned runs on seven hits while striking out four. Tony Mebruer pitched the final 11/3.

Fatima, which is ranked No. 2 in the state in Class 3, got two hits and one RBI from Austin Schubert. Logan Vogel chipped in with a pair of hits. Alex Dickneite took the loss on the mound.

Linn (15-3) plays a pair of games today at Cuba against Cuba and North County.

Fatima (14-5) returns to action Tuesday in the Fulton Tournament.
