Blue Tigers drop pair to Lindenwood in baseball

The Lincoln Blue Tigers were swept by Lindenwood in a Mid-American Intercollegiate Athletics Association doubleheader Tuesday at Lincoln Field.

Lindenwood won by scores of 17-2 and 12-8.

Lindenwood scored seven runs in the first inning to cruise to a victory in the opener.

Daniel Castillo and Christian Bunch each had two hits in an eight-hit Lincoln attack. Bunch also had an RBI, while Trevor Schnieders and Mason Price scored the runs.

Kolton Clark took the loss for the Blue Tigers, working the first 42/3 innings. He allowed 14 runs on 11 hits and four walks while striking out five. Price pitched the final 21/3 innings, giving up three runs on three hits. He struck out one.

In the second game, Lincoln rallied with seven runs in the final three innings but came up short in losing by four.

Kaleb Davis had three hits to lead Lincoln. Schnieders, Castillo, Bunch and Nick Lovell all added two hits. Clark, Dylan Koehler and Davis all scored twice. Schnieders had two RBI.

Dalton Goings took the loss. He pitched four innings, allowing eight runs on 10 hits and two walks while recording three strikeouts. Gus Goodnight pitched the final three frames, giving up four runs (three earned) on six hits and two walks. He struck out two.

Lincoln (1-25 overall, 1-17 MIAA) is back in action Friday, starting a four-game series against Central Missouri in Warrensburg.
