Missouri softball falls 10-8 to Auburn

COLUMBIA - The Auburn softball team used a six-run top of the seventh inning to rally for a 10-8 win against Missouri in the finale of the three-game set between the teams.

Auburn, which took the series 2-1, scored eight unanswered runs to rally from a 4-2 deficit.

After each team scored a pair of runs in the second, Missouri got a two-run home run from Corrin Genovese in the third to go up 4-2.

But Auburn came right back to tie it in the top of the fourth, then got six unearned runs in the seventh to go up 10-2.

Missouri tried to rally with four runs in the bottom of the seventh, including three on a home run by Jordan Zolman, but couldn't pull off the comeback.

Missouri, which got outhit 12-7, was led by Zolman's two hits.

Tori Finucane (11-6) took the loss in relief. Paige Lowary started and gave up four earned runs on eight hits and three walks while striking out three in 32/3 innings. Finucane followed and gave up six unearned runs on four hits and three walks in three innings. She struck out six before yielding to Cheyenne Baxter, who got the final out.

Auburn improved to 35-4 overall and 8-1 in the Southeastern Conference, while Missouri dropped to 22-7 and 5-4.

Missouri returns to action Wednesday when it hosts Saint Louis at 4 p.m.
