Jefferson City JCPenney receives company's highest distinction

Jefferson City's JCPenney is one of approximately 100 stores nationwide that received the company's top honor last week, according to a news release.

J.C. Penney Company, Inc., honored its top-performing stores March 25 with the Founder's Award at a special leadership conference in Dallas. The Founder's Award is the company's highest distinction for leadership excellence, recognizing top performers from across the company. At this year's ceremony, only 104 of approximately 1,060 stores, six out of 52 districts and four out of 14 supply chain facilities received the coveted award, including the JCPenney store located at Capital Mall in Jefferson City and led by store manager Brent Darr.

"Our Founder's Award recipients have shown a true passion for winning with our customers in 2014, striving for excellence and innovation in everything they do," said Myron E. (Mike) Ullman, III, chief executive officer, in the release. "On behalf of the JCPenney board of directors and executive board, we thank these leaders for having a consistently resourceful approach to business in a highly competitive retail environment."

The Founder's Award is presented to teams that excel in the areas of financial performance, customer and client service, and business expertise.
