FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (AP) - Kelyn Rowe scored twice and the New England Revolution beat the San Jose Earthquakes 2-1 on Saturday in steady snow and hail for their first victory of the season.
New England (1-2-1) got its first goal of the season in the 21st minute. A turnover created a chance for Rowe, whose blast from 17 yards deflected off the head of defender Shaun Francis, who committed the original turnover.
The Revolution added their second 16 minutes later. Chris Tierney's left-footed free kick was headed by a diving Darrius Barnes to Rowe and he buried it past David Bingham, who could only get a hand on it.
Chris Wondolowski halved the deficit with a penalty kick in the 62nd minute, awarded after Scott Caldwell clipped Clarence Goodson in the box.
San Jose fell to 2-2-0.
ORLANDO CITY 2, IMPACT 2, TIE
MONTREAL (AP) - Brazilian star Kaka and countryman Pedro Ribeiro scored goals to help expansion Orlando City rally for the tie with Montreal.
Ignacio Piatti and Jack McInerney spotted Montreal (0-1-2) to a two-goal lead, but Kaka and Ribeiro struck back in the first half for Orlando.
Piatti opened the scoring on a penalty kick the 14th minute after a handball, and McInerney made it 2-0 in the 27th. Kaka fed Ribeiro for a goal from close range in the 29th minute, then Ribeiro returned the favor by sliding a pass to Kaka on a rush for a shot that Eric Kronberg only got a piece of as it sailed into the top left corner in the 30th.
D.C. UNITED 1, GALAXY 0
WASHINGTON (AP) - Chris Pontius scored in stoppage time, lifting D.C. United past Los Angeles.
Nick DeLeon made a series of nifty moves on the right wing, and then found Pontius at the far side of the 6-yard box. Pontius went low to head it past an outstretched Brian Rowe in the third extra minute for D.C. United (2-1-0).
The Galaxy (1-1-2) were awarded a free kick at the top of the box at the 80 minute mark, but Hamid (five saves) gobbled up Jose Villarreal's low shot easily.
SPORTING KC 1, NEW YORK CITY FC 0
NEW YORK (AP) - Ike Opara scored early and Sporting Kansas City made it stand up, beating New York City FC 1-0 in blustery conditions with intermittent flurries.
Kansas City (1-1-2) ended a five-game winless streak that dated to last year.
Sporting Kansas City broke through 12 minutes in when Opara powered home a leaping header from the center of the box just inside the near post off a long throw in by Matt Besler.
NYCFC suffered its first loss in its initial season, falling to 1-1-2.
RED BULLS 2, CREW 1
COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - Mike Grella chipped in the decisive goal from long distance in the 67th minute in New York's victory over Columbus.
Bradley Wright-Phillips set up Grella's goal by blocking the ball into an open space just outside the 18-yard box. It was Grella's first touch after entering the game as a substitute and the 1,000th MLS goal for the Red Bulls (2-0-1) franchise.
Wright-Phillips opened the scoring on a penalty kick in the 49th minute. Tony Tchani evened the score for the Crew (1-2-0) with a run to the far post and open-net finish.
