Second teen charged in Taos break-in

A Crocker, Mo., teen is the second person to face burglary, stealing and property damage charges for a Dec. 27 break-in at a home in the 4800 block of Sunrise Drive, Taos.

Prosecutors charged Arica Shelton, 18, with second-degree burglary, stealing and first-degree property damage.

She joins Dakota Larry Lee Phillips, 18, Lebanon, who is facing the same charges in this case.

A Cole County sheriff's probable cause statement said Shelton was interviewed last month while in custody at the Crocker Police Department, and provided a written statement about the burglary.

Shelton said she was with Phillips and parked the vehicle she was driving in the garage of the home.

According to her statement, Shelton went inside the residence and stole guitars, electronics and coins.

Shelton, while on the property, caused $3,924.82 worth of damage to the residence and the property inside.
