Lincoln drops twinbill

KIRKSVILLE - The Lincoln Blue Tigers dropped a doubleheader Wednesday to the Truman State Bulldogs.

Truman State won the opener 10-1 and took the second game 10-2.

Lincoln's run in the first game came on a third-inning single by Sam Kircher that plated Kassidey Borland. The Blue Tigers had four hits in the game.

Lauren Stamp took the loss, allowing five runs on four hits and a walk in 2 1/3 innings. Madison Ragar pitched the final 1 2/3 innings, giving up five runs (three earned) on four hits and three walks.

In the nightcap, Truman State scored in each of the five innings on its way to the win.

Lincoln took the the lead in the top of the first when Avery Meyers doubled home Kircher, who had singled.

But Truman then scored two runs in the first three innings to take the lead for good.

Lincoln's final run came in the fifth when Jessica Wolken scored on a double by Megan Heimbaugh.

Macie Kinsey went the distance for Lincoln, allowing five earned runs on 12 hits and two walks.

Lincoln (3-23) is back in action Friday in a doubleheader against Northwest Missouri State in Maryville.
