Lebanon man charged with December burglary

A Lebanon, Mo., teen faces burglary, stealing and property damage charges for a Dec. 27 break-in at a home in the 4800 block of Sunrise Drive, Taos.

Prosecutors charged Dakota Larry Lee Phillips, 18, with burglary and stealing - both Class C felonies - and first-degree property damage, a Class D felony.

A Cole County sheriff's probable cause statement said Phillips was interviewed last month while he was in the Pulaski County Jail, Waynesville, and provided a written statement about the burglary.

Deputy Corey Bolton said Phillips entered the home through a window, stole a number of items and caused $3,924.82 worth of damage to the residence and the property inside.

The property damage charge accuses Phillips of "breaking windows, putting holes in the walls and doors, breaking the doors and removing the ceiling fans."

Conviction of the Class D felony could be as much as a prison term of up to four years.

The stealing charge lists the stolen items as guitars, guitar amplifiers, speakers, a speaker cabinet, Bose music systems, a Sony PS2 and video games, a television, air compressor, jewelry, knives, swords, a camcorder, Blue-Ray video player, watches, a pellet gun, money and sporting equipment.

Conviction of the Class C felony charges could include a prison sentence of two to seven years on each count.
