Your Opinion: So-called Christian churches

Dear Editor:

I wonder when these so-called Christian churches will come clean and just write book(s) that truly describes their beliefs?

I call your attention to a March17 AP article "Presbyterians Approve Same-Sex Marriage in Church Constitution" (http://www.breitbart.com/big-government/2015/03/17/presbyterians-approve-same-sex-marriage-in-church-constitution/). A quote from the article: "The Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) approved redefining marriage in the church constitution Tuesday to include a "commitment between two people," becoming the largest Protestant group to formally recognize gay marriage as Christian and allow same-sex weddings in every congregation."

I guess I'm just old hat, but I grew up being taught that Christianity was based without question on a belief in the Bible. Why don't the Episcopalians and Presbyterians just follow other faiths like the Mormons or Muslims and write their own books outlining their true beliefs based on their "prophet's" teachings? At least that would be honest and not misrepresent their religions as Christian which for centuries has used the entire Bible as God's Word without exception.

Of course if they did that, they would have to expose the identity of the person or persons who have assumed or been assigned the God-like role (a prophet) of choosing what parts of the Bible are legitimate for belief and which should be ignored or changed. They would also have to give up the Christian brand for their church which would definitely have an impact on membership and contributions which in today's culture, power and money seem to always trump honesty.

Wake up Bible believing Christians! Satan knows how to divide and conquer and believe me he's doing it with huge successes.
