STE. GENEVIEVE, Mo. - Linn came up short once again against Valle Catholic, the team that defeated the Wildcats in the Class 2 semifinals last season, but finished atop the Silver Division in the Valle Catholic Tournament.
The defeat to Valle Catholic was Linn's second game Friday night.
Ethan Lee had three hits and an RBI.
With the loss, the Wildcats finished 1-1 in pool play.
Linn began play in the Silver Division on Saturday with a 5-2 defeat of Scott City. Blake Snyder recorded the win, pitching four scoreless innings, and Chase Laughlin had the save. Ryan Mantle hit a two-run home run.
In the Silver Division championship, the Wildcats defeated De Soto 8-5.
Ben Brandt earned the win, throwing 4 1/3 innings. Mebruer had the save.
Laughlin paced Linn on offense with three hits, a run and an RBI.
Daulton Niederhelm scored two runs, as did Ben Klebba, who had an RBI.
Linn plays in a conference tournament game against Tuscumbia at 7:15 p.m. Thursday in Eugene.
