Man shot delivery driver, tossed explosives while fleeing

ARNOLD, Mo. (AP) - Police say a man shot and wounded a pizza delivery driver before fleeing through Missouri and Illinois while tossing homemade dynamite sticks from his car at pursuing officers.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch (http://bit.ly/1LbQTpX) reports that the suspect was attempting to light an explosive when he was arrested Friday night after police used spike strips to disable his vehicle. Jefferson County sheriff's Lt. Steve Meinberg says items used to make explosive were found in the man's home. He's in custody with charges pending.

Meinberg says the pursuit along stretches of Interstate 55 and 170 began after the driver delivered a pizza to the suspect in a trailer park. Police said that the suspect refused to give the driver more money before shooting him in the chest and back. The driver survived.
