Crane wins third consecutive Class 2 girls title

COLUMBIA, Mo. (AP) - Emma Lander scored 16 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to lead Crane past Skyline 58-51 in the Class 2 Girls Championship on Saturday.

Crane (30-2) won its third title in school history, all of them coming in the past three seasons. Lander also led the Lady Pirates to a 67-52 victory in last year's final against Skyline with 22 points and 11 rebounds.

Skyline (28-5) never led Saturday, but Madisen Brethower used an 8-0 personal run to narrow the Lady Tigers' deficit to 54-48 with 1:38 remaining. That's as close as Skyline would get, though, as Crane scored the game's next four points on free throws.

Brethower finished with 18 points and 11 rebounds while teammate McKinsey Mountain added 11 points.
