Man nabbed for copper theft

Authorities have arrested a man and charged him with breaking into two Jefferson City cellphone companies to steal copper wiring.

Jerry Bossow, 46, whose address was unknown to authorities, has been charged with two counts of second-degree burglary.

A Jefferson City Police Department probable cause statement alleges the thefts were reported on Feb. 28 at U.S. Cellular in the 3000 block of East McCarty Street and AT&T in the 600 block of Clark Avenue.

Bossow is believed to have forced open a lock box containing keys that were used to enter control tower areas of the buildings. Once inside, Bossow stole the copper wiring by cutting wires and removing them.

Surveillance videos taken at the time were distributed statewide and Bossow was subsequently found and arrested in Cass County, near Kansas City.

Cass County authorities said Bossow is wanted there and in other parts of Missouri and Kansas for similar theft cases.
