Jefferson City woman gets probation for forgery

A Jefferson City woman has been placed on five years supervised probation for pleading guilty to forging nearly $51,000 in checks.

Hailey Hewitt, 28, of 206 Madelines Park Circle, is believed to have done this from July 1, 2013, through Aug. 7, 2014.

She was charged with one count of stealing and one count of forgery.

As part of her probation, Hewitt must pay $50,800 in restitution.

A Jefferson City Police Department probable cause statement alleges that after being presented copies of the checks during an interview with authorities, Hewitt signed several that she had forged and written out to herself, which were cashed at Hawthorn Bank on Truman Boulevard.
