Lincoln women lose tennis dual

On Monday night

The Lincoln tennis team began the 2015 season with a 9-0 loss to Emporia State on Monday at Jefferson City Country Club.

The Blue Tigers won just four games in the meeting of MIAA foes and forfeited the third doubles and sixth singles matches.

Abigail Gober and Ashley Roling fell 8-1 to Emporia State's Amy Fugit and Kaley Clark in the first doubles match, and Yvonne Geldner and Maeva Lasfargue were defeated by Taylor Smith and Tiffany Kounsombath by the same score in the second.

In singles play, Lasfargue fell 6-1, 6-0 to Tawni Griffey, while Gober fell 6-1, 6-0 to Smith.

Roling, Geldner and Christana Moore each failed to win a game, falling to Clark, Fugit and Khounsombath, respectively.

Lincoln returns to the courts at 2 p.m. today when they host Washburn.
