Tim Rulo was named head football coach at Helias High School on Monday afternoon.

Rulo comes to Helias from South Callaway High School, where he led the Bulldogs to the Class 2 state championship game last season. Rulo had served as head coach at South Callaway since 2008.

Rulo replaces Phil Pitts, who stepped down in January to accept a position with the University of Missouri football program.

After Hall of Fame head coach Ray Hentges stepped down after the 1998 state championship season, Helias' next three head coaches - Mike Jeffries, Chris Hentges and Pitts - came from within the Crusader program.
