Check "Baggage Claim' for a great drama arrival

The Stained Glass Theatre production "Baggage Claim" is the story of the De'Baquel family told in parable format.

The family is vacationing at a bed and breakfast and their luggage is continually thrown into the canyon below by a goofy bellhop. The father keeps going up and down the stairs to retrieve the luggage.

As the play progresses the baggage becomes more than physical (the parable). It is the family's individual personal baggage which the father is unable to handle. In the end, the bellhop is able to help the family.

The theme is brought out that as individuals we carry a lot of baggage and we would be much better if we could let it go.

There are nine cast members and five in the tech crew.

Cast members include: Billy Hovey as the father; Teri Hovey as the mother; Kieron Walquist as the son; Mikayla Moore as the daughter; Elise Shoemaker as the hotel desk clerk; and Mike Landrum as the bellhop.

Rounding out the cast are: Ginger Mangan, Emily Herndon, Charlie Lindquist and Tim Basnett.

Mila Moore and her husband, Terry, are co-directors for the play, and their daughter Lorna is backstage manager. Their other daughter, Mikayla, is helping with the directing as well as playing a role.

"The set for this show is in a 3-D format as opposed to a simple box set which makes it different from other productions," said Terry Moore.

The show is a comedy-drama and the Moores suggest that it would be good for ages 8 and up. Younger children might have some trouble understanding the double meanings expressed.

"The show has been a blessing for us and we have witnessed people who may have some of the same problems as the De'Baquel family. Hopefully they too will be able to overcome them," Mikayla Moore said.
