MU to close regular season at Mississippi State

On Tuesday, the Missouri Tigers celebrated Senior Night with a win against Auburn at Mizzou Arena.

Today, Missouri will look to spoil Mississippi State's Senior Day when the Tigers (9-21 overall, 3-14 Southeastern Conference) take on the Bulldogs (12-18, 5-12) in Starkville, Miss. (5:30 p.m., SEC Network) to close out the regular season.

Missouri, which has won two of it last three games, is winless on the road this season. The Tigers have split a pair of games in Starkville in the series and hold a 3-1 edge all-time against the Bulldogs.

Mississippi State defeated Missouri 77-74 earlier Feb. 14 at Mizzou Arena. The Bulldogs led by as many as 17 points in the first half of the game before Missouri rallied. The Tigers led 64-63 with a little more than four minutes remaining before the Bulldogs came back to get the win with a solid performance at the free-throw line, hitting 26-of-33 in the contest.

Craig Sword (6-3 jr.), coming off a 20-point performance in a 66-56 loss Wednesday at Vanderbilt, leads Mississippi State in scoring at 10.8 per contest. Gavin Ware (6-9 jr.) is next at 10.2 and leads the team with 7.2 rebounds per outing.

Jonathan Williams III, who is averaging a team-high 11.7 points, scored 27 for the Tigers in the first game against the Bulldogs. Keith Shamburger added 15, while Ryan Rosburg chipped in with 12.

Four Bulldog seniors will be honored prior to the game.

Mississippi State is 12th and Missouri is 14th in the conference standings. Both will open play Wednesday night in the SEC Tournament at Nashville, Tenn.
