Chrysler recalls minivans, SUVs to fix ignition switches

DETROIT (AP) - Chrysler is recalling nearly 703,000 minivans and SUVs to replace faulty ignition switches that can cause the vehicles to stall unexpectedly.

The company is warning people to remove everything but the ignition key from their key ring until repairs can be made.

The recall covers Dodge Journey SUVs and Chrysler Town and Country and Dodge Caravan minivans from the 2008 through 2010 model years.

Chrysler says it will replace the switches, but parts won't be available until April. The company says the switches can slip from the "run" to "off" position on a bumpy road. That can cause engines to shut down, knocking out power steering and brakes and disabling air bags.

The same vehicles were recalled in 2011 and last year but the fixes didn't work.
