Missouri State Auditor, Tom Schweich, was a tremendous inspiration for many sophomores throughout the state of Missouri.
He, along with the other highest elected state officials, has spoken to thousands of outstanding high school students nominated to attend the Sophomore Pilgrimage in Jefferson City to learn more about Missouri state government and its history. The Honorable Tom Schweich has delivered challenging, vibrant and humorous messages to the students each year he has been state auditor. The teens have been in awe as have the sponsors each time Schweich has spoken.
The Sophomore Pilgrimage has been held each year for the past 80 years in Jefferson City and is sponsored by the General Federated Women's Clubs of Missouri with the GFWC Dianas Club of Jefferson City organizing the event.
Those of us who have grown to know and love Tom Schweich, are truly saddened to learn of his sudden death. And, Schweich was the first to respond, as always, for the April 14, 2015 event! We will sorely miss him at this year's special event.
He was a scholar, a gentleman, and had a passion for youth. God bless Tom Schweich.
