The Sunday morning fire that destroyed an apartment house at 201 Cherry St. may have been started by unattended cooking.

Investigators said during interviews one of the tenants admitted to leaving something on a stove.

That fire left nine tenants without a home.

The Red Cross helped 21 people from that apartment house and surrounding apartments with temporary housing.

Fire officials said eventually the structure will have to be torn down due to its condition.
