Lincoln competes at indoor track meet

WARRENSBURG, Mo. - The Lincoln women sit in sixth place after two of the three days of competition at the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association's Indoor Track and Field Championships.

The Blue Tigers, bidding for their fifth straight MIAA indoor title, got three top-eight results Saturday.

Lincoln finished second in the distance medley relay in 12:14.45, a provisional qualifying time for the NCAA Division II Indoor Championships. The team was made up of Jhevere Hall, Lovan Palmer, Willomena Williams and Monique Thompson.

Also for the Blue Tigers, Daniele Newman was fourth in the triple jump (38-111/2) and Jonelle Campbell finished seventh in the triple jump (38-63/4).

Four area athletes placed in women's events at the meet.

Missouri Southern's Melanie Bower (Linn High School) was second in the pole vault (12-31/2), Pittsburg State's Kezia Martin (Jefferson City High School) came in fifth in the triple jump (38-83/4), Missouri Southern's Allie Heckemeyer (St. Elizabeth High School) finished eighth in the pentathlon (3,356 points) and Addie Mengwasser (Chamois High School) was a member of the Missouri Southern distance medley relay team that came in third (12:39.33).

On the men's side, Lincoln scored a pair of top-eight finishes Saturday in the triple jump, as Owen Smith was fifth (47-31/2) and Sedeekie Edie was eighth (45-101/2).

The Championships conclude today with 12 finals-only events for both the men and women at the UCM Multipurpose Building.
