Berhorst takes title in BFL event

WARSAW - Dennis Berhorst of Holts Summit weighed a five-bass limit totaling 16 pounds, 12 ounces Saturday to win the fourth Walmart Bass Fishing League Ozark Division tournament of 2015 on Lake Truman.

For his victory, Berhorst earned $5,963. He said he caught approximately 11 keepers during the course of the tournament.

Also in the event, Eldon's Roger Fitzpatrick finished fifth, catching five bass weighing 12-9. He took home $793 for his finish. He also caught the biggest bass of the tournament in the pro division, one weighing 4-12, to earn the day's Big Bass award of $535.

The BFL is a 24-division circuit devoted to weekend anglers, with 120 tournaments throughout the season, five in each division. The top 50 finishers from each division qualify for a regional tournament and compete to finish in the top six, which then qualifies them for the Walmart BFL All-American. Top winners in the BFL can move up to the Rayovac FLW Series or even the Walmart FLW Tour.

After four events in the Ozark Division, Berhorst is sitting in first place with 980 points, 34 ahead of the second-place fisher. Fitzpatrick is in third with 939 points.

The final event for the Ozark Division will be held Sept. 19 at Lake of the Ozarks.
