2 arrested after car chase ends in crash

Two men were arrested and held on charges following a Sunday evening car pursuit that started in Jefferson City and ended outside Kingdom City, according to the Callaway County Sheriff's office.

The chase started on U.S. 54 in Jefferson City, involving Jefferson City police, the Highway Patrol and Holts Summit police. Callaway County Sheriff's deputies joined the pursuit near Fulton. As the driver headed east on Interstate 70, he attempted a turn south, but lost control and crashed.

The driver was identified as Joseph Paul, 22, of Jefferson City, and the passenger was identified as Antonio Green, 18, of St. Louis. Both men were taken into custody by deputies and troopers.

Paul was arrested on suspicion of felony resisting arrest and suspicion of possession of a controlled substance with the intent to distribute.

Green was arrested on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance with the intent to distribute.

Paul is being held in the Callaway County Jail on $20,000 cash only bond, and Green is being held on $4,500 bond.

Deputies located a handgun and suspected heroin in the vehicle.
