STANFORD, Calif. (AP) - Chris Wondolowski scored his ninth goal of the season and the San Jose Earthquakes beat the Los Angeles Galaxy 3-1 on Saturday night at Stanford Stadium in the California Clasico.
Matias Perez Garcia added two assists for the Quakes (7-5-4), the first on a well-placed cross that Wondolowski smashed into the net in the 28th minute for a 1-all tie. Wondolowski moved alone into second place the MLS goal race, three behind Columbus' Kei Kamara.
Clarence Goodson gave San Jose the lead in the 53rd minute, heading home Perez Garcia's corner kick.
Cordell Cato capped the scoring for the Earthquakes with a patient left-footed finish in the 72nd.
The Galaxy (7-6-7) took the lead in the 17th minute on Juninho's 30-yard rocket from straightaway that curled just enough from San Jose goalkeeper David Bingham's diving reach.
WHITECAPS 2, REVOLUTION 1
FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (AP) - Octavio Rivero scored on a penalty kick in the 31st minute and Vancouver snapped New England's 17-game home unbeaten streak.
The West-leading Whitecaps (10-602) have won an MLS-best six road games through the first half of the season. New England (6-7-6) has lost three straight.
Vancouver grabbed the lead in the 18th minute when Cristian Techera's left-footed shot caromed off Revolution goalkeeper Bobby Shuttleworth's gloves and trickled into the lower left corner.
New England's Andrew Farrell committed a hard foul in the penalty area in the 31st minute, earning a red card and giving Vancouver a spot kick that Rivero converted to make it 2-0.
Teal Bunbury halved the Vancouver lead in the 84th minute, finding a loose ball off a New England set piece and driving it into the middle of the goal.
SPORTING KANSAS CITY 2, RAPIDS 0
KANSAS CITY, Kan. (AP) - Krisztian Nemeth scored his seventh goal of the season and Sporting Kansas City beat the Colorado Rapids 2-0 on Saturday night.
Chance Myers and Benny Feilhaber assisted on Nemeth's goal in the 32nd minute. It was Feilhaber's MLS-leading ninth assist.
Myers returned to MLS action for the first time since rupturing his Achilles tendon on May 23, 2014. The defender's first competitive action came in a 1-0 Open Cup win over St. Louis FC on June 16.
Rapids midfielder Sam Cronin conceded an own goal in the 64th minute.
Kansas City improved to 7-3-6, and Colorado dropped to 2-6-9.
IMPACT 2, UNION 2, TIE
CHESTER, Pa. (AP) - Maurice Edu punched home a rebound from in front of the Montreal goal in the 76th minute and Philadelphia salvaged a soggy draw with the Impact in a rainstorm.
After a Philadelphia corner kick, the ball bounced outside the box and Fabinho fired a shot that goalkeeper Evan Bush stopped but couldn't control. Edu settled the ball and struck it home.
Eric Ayuk Mbu gave Philadelphia (5-10-4) a 1-0 lead, one-timing a shot from the top of the penalty box in the eighth minute. Montreal (5-6-3) tied it when Ignacio Piatti right-footed a shot from outside the box into the bottom right corner. Former Union forward Jack McInerney put the short-handed Impact ahead just minutes after Patrice Bernier was sent off after getting a second yellow card.
CREW 2, REAL SALT LAKE 2, TIE
SANDY, Utah (AP) - Ethan Finlay scored Columbus' second tying goal against Real Salt Lake.
Federico Higuain assisted on Finlay's goal in the 62nd minute with a cross that cut back just behind the 6-yard box. Sebastian Jaime made it 2-1 for Real Salt Lake only 25 seconds into the second half.
Olmes Garcia finished a four-touch buildup off Luke Mulholland's free kick to open the scoring for RSL (5-6-7) in the 36th minute. Tony Tchani tied it 6 minutes later for Columbus (5-6-6).
Real Salt Lake's Jordan Allen received a red card in the 77th minute for a studs-up challenge.
D.C. UNITED 0, TORONTO FC 0, TIE
TORONTO (AP) - D.C. United's Bill Hamid made a diving save on Sebastian Giovinco in the 67th minute and the Washington club played to a scoreless draw with Toronto FC in rainy and windy conditions.
Players had trouble putting passes together in the relentless rain, with wind gusts that had the players' shorts flapping like flags. Eastern Conference-leading D.C. United is 10-5-5. Toronto is 7-6-2.
