Man pleads guilty in death of Missouri couple

FARMINGTON, Mo. (AP) - An eastern Missouri man is the first of four suspects to plead guilty in the killing of a couple.

The Daily Journal newspaper in Park Hills (http://bit.ly/1NnL7OL ) reports that Maxwell Navarro Lee was sentenced to life in prison after pleading guilty Friday in St. Francois County to two counts of second-degree murder. Court documents said the Ironton man drove the son of Stanley and Tamara Halter and two other suspects to the couple's home near Park Hills in April 2014 so they could steal.

Authorities allege the son shot his parents and that Lee helped him to carry out money and rifles. The couple's house then was set on fire.

The son is charged with first-degree murder and the other suspects with second-degree murder.
