Three hurt in Jefferson City wreck

Three people were hurt in a two vehicle accident Wednesday afternoon in Jefferson City.

According to police reports, a call came into the 911 Communications Center at 2:25 p.m.of a head-on collision that had just occurred on Ellis Boulevard near the intersection of California Street.

A vehicle driven by Randall Sharp, 52, Jefferson City, had heavy front end damage facing west in the eastbound lane and a vehicle driven by Lindsey Gilpin, 25, Jefferson City, had heavy front end damage facing east in the westbound lane.

The investigation revealed that Gilpin was travelling eastbound on Ellis and Sharp was travelling westbound.

Sharp crossed the center lane completely entering the eastbound lane and then collided head-on with Gilpin.

The impact immediately redirected Gilpin's vehicle pushing it westbound and across the roadway into the westbound lane.

Air bags were deployed in both vehicles and both drivers and the passenger stated they were wearing their seat belts.

Sharp was taken to a local hospital for further evaluation and treatment of minor injuries.

Gilpin and her passenger, Haley Gilpin, 13, Jefferson City, were taken by a family member to a local hospital as well for further evaluation and treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

The crash is being investigated by the Jefferson City Police Department Traffic Unit.
