Truman Presidential Library closed for mechanical repairs

INDEPENDENCE, Mo. (AP) - Officials at the Harry S. Truman Presidential Library and Museum in Independence say the library has closed because of air conditioning problems.

Susan K. Donius, the library's acting director, says the air conditioning has been shut down because of broken pipe lines. She says the library will be closed until the system is repaired.

Donius said in a news release Tuesday that library staff members are monitoring all artifact and archival materials storage areas to ensure items are properly preserved.

She didn't say how long the repairs are expected to take.
