Missouri man who drowned in Buffalo River was on vacation

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) - A 22-year-old Missouri man who drowned in the Buffalo National River in Arkansas was on his first vacation at the time.

Curtis Miller was swimming with friends last Thursday in the Buffalo National River when he went under the water. His body was found Monday about 2 miles from where he was last seen when the river was running fast from heavy rain brought by Tropical Depression Bill.

His mother, Diana Miller of Independence, told The Kansas City Star (http://bit.ly/1CrlEOD ) her son, who was a manager at a Liberty grocery store, had gone to Arkansas to attend a family reunion for his friend's girlfriend. She says it was his first vacation.

She says several family members drove down Friday but returned before her son's body was found Monday.
