Illinois man electrocuted while swimming in the Lake

An Illinois man died after he apparently was electrocuted while swimming Sunday evening in Lake of the Ozarks.

According to the Missouri Highway Patrol, 21-year-old Marcus Colburn, and a female minor Taylor Curley, both of East Moline, Illinois were swimming around 9 p.m. at Woods Hollow Cove at the 22.2-mile marker of the Osage arm of Lake of the Ozarks.

The swimmers had felt electricity in the water and Colburn attempted to get out of the water by using the dock ladder. When he grabbed the ladder, he was allegedly shocked and fell face down in the water.

Colburn was taken to Lake Regional Hospital, and where he was pronounced dead. The Highway Patrol is still investigating the cause of death.

Curley suffered minor injuries from the incident and was taken to Lake Regional Hospital for treatment.
