MU defensive lineman Brantley suffers serious injuries in car crash

COLUMBIA - Missouri starting defensive lineman Harold Brantley was injured in a one-vehicle crash Sunday afternoon.

According to the Missouri Highway Patrol, Brantley was southbound on U.S. 63 just south of the KOMU building when his vehicle travelled off the left side of the roadway, over corrected, then slid off the right side before striking a guardrail and overturning.

Brantley was taken to University Hospital with serious injuries. A passenger in the vehicle, Missouri women's basketball player Maddie Stock, was also taken to University Hospital with minor injuries.

Neither Brantley nor Stock, who are both 21, were wearing seat belts.

Brantley, a native of Hershey, Pa., was a redshirt sophomore last fall. He started 10 of Missouri's 14 games, totaling 54 tackles, seven for loss, and five sacks. He was honorable mention All-Southeastern Conference by the Associated Press.

Stock played in all 33 games for Missouri last year in her junior season. She averaged 7.2 points, 2.9 rebounds and 1.5 assists. She played at St. Joseph's Academy in St. Louis in high school.
