Charges faced after April car crash

A Jefferson City man is facing multiple charges in connection with an April car accident.

Jeffery Millens Jr., 20, of 511 East Ashley St., is charged with resisting arrest, leaving the scene of an accident, speeding, failure to register a motor vehicle, failure to display a license plate, failure to maintain financial responsibility and driving without a valid license.

A Jefferson City Police Department probable cause statement shows Millens was going north on Christy Drive when an officer found him to be going 10 mph over the speed limit.

The officer, who was going south on Christy, turned around to pursue Millens.

Millens accelerated and attempted to turn onto Tanner Bridge Road, but he lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a guard rail at the intersection of Christy and Tanner Bridge.

Millens got out of the vehicle and ran into a nearby tree line.

His passenger stayed in the vehicle and, when questioned by officers, said Millens had made the statement "I'm not going to jail" when he saw he was being pursued.
