One arrested after invasion of privacy investigation in JC

Jefferson City police detectives are investigating an invasion of privacy complaint made by a Jefferson City woman who says her sexually-explicit photos were shared with others without her consent.

Police were told June 11 the woman had taken her cell phone to iRepair, a cellular phone repair shop in Jefferson City, for a routine phone repair. She later learned photos of her that were on her phone were shared between several individuals without her knowledge.

Detectives contacted the employee who is believed to have committed the act and seized his phone. Police said a number of other pictures of various women, including the woman making the complaint, were found on his phone. Some of the victims have been identified, but there are approximately 15 more who are unidentified.

The suspect, a 32-year-old Jefferson City male, was arrested for first-degree invasion of privacy and possession of child pornography; one of the women pictured was 16 years old at the time the photograph was taken. Police said the suspect was taken to Cole County Jail and was released on bond, pending the filing of charges.

The Jefferson City Police Department is asking anyone who may have used the service between the end of 2014 through June 2015 to contact Detective Ambler at 573-634-6400.
