2nd teen charged in Blair Oaks drug case

A second Cole County teenager has been charged in connection with a drug case at Blair Oaks High School in Wardsville.

This week, Jeremy Massen, 19, Bonnots Mill, was charged with misdemeanor distribution of a prescription medication on school property.

Court documents show that in April, Massen had given Grant Jurgensmeyer, 18, of 6818 Whippoorwill Court, prescription medication with Massen's name on it.

Jurgensmeyer was earlier charged with two counts of distribution of a controlled substance near a school and one count of possession of a controlled substance, all felonies.

According to the Cole County Sheriff's Department, Principal Gary Verslues searched Jurgensmeyer's backpack and found two pill bottles inside a potato chip can.

One bottle had a label indicating it contained Tramadol, but no pills were inside.

Another bottle had a cyclobenzaprine label.

Massen said he gave Jurgensmeyer the bottles because Jurgensmeyer kept asking for them and he got tired of his nagging.

Massen said he didn't know what Jurgensmeyer was going to do with the pills.

When questioned, Jurgensmeyer admitted to taking one Tramadol pill himself during lunch at school and giving another pill to another student in one of the school bathrooms because the student asked for one.

He said he gave the other pills away while he was out of school.
